Self Reference Criterion ~ some amazing facts

I.
Coca Cola has taken up the "think local, act local" approach around the world over the last decade. Asia is an important test case, as the diversity of cultures and income levels does not provide a unified consumer base.
When it entered the chinese market in 1928, the phrase was pronounced as ko- ka- ko- la which meant in chinese “bite the wax tadpole” or “wax flattened mare” or “female horse fastened with horse”. Hence the chinese refused to buy so the company was looking for four chinese characters which approximated the sounds to something meaningful.
K’o means approve; permit; may; can; good; appropriate.

K’ou stands for mouth; hole; entrance. It looks like a mouth, right?

K’o

Le’ means happy; joyful; be glad to; enjoy; laugh

So it sums up to ko kou ko le and coca cola started selling magnificently.

II.
Bottled water companies earn high profits. What is amazing is that people are prepared to pay Rs. 12 for a liter of water-in India especially when the cost of material input (0.25 paisa per liter excluding labors cost) pales into insignificance before the price of the product.  The website of the North American says "Think Outside the Bottle" campaign.

Millions of people, both in rural and urban India, suffer from inadequate or no tap water supply.  Even some parts of Mumbai, the country's financial capital, get a mere two hours of daily water supply.

When introduced in India was less than the price of milk and is still now, so that people when thirsty did not opt for milk, the only drink that was common among the Indians.

III.
In 2004, an add about LeBron James beating cartoon material arts masters and slaying a chinese dragon with material arts offended Chinese authorities who called the ad blasphemous and insulting to national dignity and to the dragon.
The company rolled out a new campaign in june 2011 called “Nike 6.0” that was aimed at extreme sport athletes. Nike introduced a new line of T-shirts that included phrases such as “Dope”, “Get High” and “ Ride Pipe” sports lingo that also means drug use. Boston mayor expressed his objection to the shirts. Hence Nike again had to think about some remedy.

IV.
McDonalds was having a lucrative business when they thought they will want to encroach into Indian market. They were looking for the exact cookie which would crumble in Indian market. Beaf the main ingredient will not work in Indian Market because Hindus do not savour beaf! Hence they thought of chicken but then also they were missing on the Marwari Consumers, the huge lot of vegetarians. Then came the Aloo Tikki Burger. They substituted the beaf with the chicken and then aloo (potato). They gave what the situation demanded.

It is all about dealing with individuals and above all situdials!!!

A short journey

There were those days I still remember when I used to rush to the office and rush back home. Each day seemed so long, so tiring so painful. I always waited the day to end, the sun to set and to shut my eyes to get some sleep. Sometimes I did wish if there were no tomorrow, no waking up again, no challenges again then it would be so easy, so comfortable. There will not be any walks in the unpaved roads again.
I could hear some random noise, some laughter, yes it was laughter! Loud and Clear. There were three four people chatting, laughing , having a gala time. I was wandering across the street when one of them asked me to join. I went with them and ddnt realise when I was a part of them. It was so little a time and I mingled with their emotions, jokes, imbecility, childishness. I never imagined myself doing crazy stuffs, though I wanted to do it always :p and I did it or I can say was an accomplice :p. I laughed with all my heart out. When I saw myself in the mirror I wondered was I actually ever so upset that I did not want the sun to rise again??!! All I remembered, this is one life! one journey! and my journey had set on  a path I had hardly known. It did have a name, O you definitely know, happiness!! :) Each day was new, each day was a little life :) each day I discovered a new me :). Out of them one held my hand and strolled with me to a corner where I did explore bliss, which felt so perfect and I again asked myself why I had not come here earlier?!! I strolled with him and every step I took gave me new aspiration, new hope a new vigour which gave me all the strenth to fight back all the difficulties, all the hardships. I do owe him a lot for everything I did come across, for everything that gave me a long long grin.
I did stretch my hand again to hold his hand again, to grasp the lingering affection... but I coul not find his hand. My hand straight fell down on me. Sun did rise, the rays did strike my eyes. I rubbed my eyes and opend my eyes. It was a new day again! Was it a dream then?  It was no real? Was in wonderland? All I believed was not so true? What I wanted to count on never did it exist? Was it a deep, deep sleep? It was all, al utopian!! Whatever it was may be every good thing has an end. What a journey it was! short indeed!Sigh! I will have to rush to office or I will get late again.

Cul-De-Sac:

“Don’t call me again”

“Oh! Lord please listen to me once!”

“No I don’t want to and FYI don’t cry this way it isn’t helping”

“ Why bu.. but why are you doing this?”

The question wasn’t answered. Anamika quickly checked her phone, it showed call ended. She called back. Nobody took her calls. 20 times she had already called. She looked high up in the air and couldn’t stop howling. She went on saying “why God why?” . She started walking. Alone. Cursed god several times. She thought killing herself will bring an end to all the pain, all the misery. She always had the notion the almighty never answered her. Never listened to her.

She came back home, threw herself on the couch and was trying to count the blades of the ceiling fan. All of a sudden the door bell distracted her. She hurried to the door. Her maid, sabita was standing, crying. Grasped her hand and started enchanting one line “ Didi o didi amare bachan”. Anamika tried to calm her down and asked her what had happened. In a tangled voice she said her husband was missing. She has four kids, her in laws, she did not know how she will pull through! She was in a conundrum. Anamika realized she is at a much better place. She realized perhaps god is there and he does answer to all the prayers but at times maybe the answer is no.

Sabita is from Sunderbans. Her husband was a fisherman. She suspected he could have been taken away by the man eater. It is a mundane incident in Sunderbans, often fishermen while collecting fishes from the net step down on the soil. Their feet tends to get stuck in the silt, hence easy movement becomes impossible. The tiger waits for this moment and then gnaws down its victims with its canines. Inspite of the risk, poverty grills them to the death trap. The Man Eaters are ferocious, dangerous! A threat to the people of Sunderbans. The Aila left the mangrove island dilapidated and after that the residents have become more dependent on the forests. Very few are left with choices.

Anamika wanted to move out from the city anyway so she said she could come with her to Sunderbans and help her to look for her husband. The next morning they started for Sunderbans. By afternoon they reached. They lodged an FIR at the police station and went to Sabita’s house at Goshaba. Sabita’s in laws had arranged lunch for them.It was brown rice, some local fish and pickle. After lunch they started to walk down to those places where her husband was usually seen. Nowhere there was a response, Anamika couldn’t rekindle the ray of hope.

“Didimoni Ektu shunben? Edike ekbarti ashben?” A woman called Anamika from a nearby thatched house. She looked at Sabita and then asked her to wait. Anamika went inside the house. The woman said “ kayu jante parli amare meri felbe, taboo

ami bhogoban k dorai, amaro choto choto cheli meyi ache, ami shobitar jontona ta bujhi go, bujhi” and she started crying. She went on. She knew where Sabita’s husband was. Anamika was baffled. She could trace Sabita’s husband but the way she was saying she could not make out if should be at all happy about it. Her eyes started coming out of the socket, tears rolled down, there were goose bumps all over her, she was petrified, dumbstruck!

Anamika came out of the house with her head hung down. A group of fishermen had gone out for fishing but unfortunately they didn’t have a good catch so they planned to fetch honey. They entered into the forest. Slowly after wandering for a while they entered into the core area. As per government policies nobody is allowed to enter into the core area. If any mishap happens it isn’t compensated instead a fine is charged. People can also be put behind the bars. Knowing all these things they had embarked upon the cul-de-sac. Finally they spotted an area, there was a sigh of relief, their search ended. Everybody was so busy nobody noticed a member was missing from their group. After their work was done and they turned back they saw blood stains, they followed it and saw Sabita’s husband’s mutilated body lying. Half eaten, blood smeared lying down on the ground. Flies rattling over him. Everybody was grief stricken, panic stricken but had to burn him down there. Poverty had trampled down their ethical values. They did not have a choice and came out silently. All the tears, all the screams got buried into the grounds with his ashes.

Anamika was torn between gulping it down and letting her know. She could not gather up the courage to tell her the truth because she knew how it feels to lose someone and finally decided not to tell her about the loss. She thought perhaps the hope in her heart will let her live.
